1. Agreement
These Terms apply when you download, install, or use Kioku. By using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Kioku. The developer is Soylu Digital Solutions (SODISOL), based in Turkey (“SODISOL,” “we,” or “us”). These Terms do not limit consumer rights that cannot lawfully be limited.
2. The App and Free Features
Kioku is a spaced-repetition study app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. The free app includes up to five decks and 20 cards per deck, spaced-repetition study, Learn mode, the Apple Watch app, widgets, daily reminders, offline Word Forms (English, German, Turkish, and Japanese), a furigana toggle, free Catalog theme decks (Colours and Animals) in four languages, JSON study-data import and export, and Delete Study Data. The iPhone and paired Watch can exchange study data directly.
Kioku has no AI features. Features may change as the app develops, subject to applicable law and any rights attached to a purchase or subscription.
3. Premium Subscription
Premium provides ready-made A1.1 and A1.2 courses in English, German, and Turkish and a JLPT N5 course in Japanese (nearly 4,000 dictionary-checked cards, each usable with meanings in the other three languages), unlimited decks and cards, iCloud Sync without an account, and due-card alerts. Subscription products, prices, billing periods, and any offer available to you are shown by Apple at the time of purchase.
Purchases are made through the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple's payment and subscription terms. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID subscription settings. Cancellation stops future renewal according to Apple's terms; access may continue through the paid period. Canceling does not delete your decks, cards, or review history. To remove study data, use Delete Study Data in Kioku Settings.
Refund requests are handled through Apple's App Store process, subject to applicable law. Subscription management may use RevenueCat; see the Privacy Policy for details.
4. Study Data, Sync, and Deletion
Your study content remains yours. It is stored on your device unless you enable optional Premium iCloud Sync, which uses Apple's CloudKit service and your iCloud account. Apple service availability, account settings, and storage limits may affect syncing. The iPhone and paired Watch exchange study information through Apple's WatchConnectivity framework.
You may import or export study data as JSON from Settings. Delete Study Data requires two confirmations. It removes decks, cards, chapters, and review history from this device, cancels due-card alerts, refreshes widget data, and queues a reset sync for the paired Watch. The Watch copy clears when that sync arrives, so it may remain on an offline Watch until then. If study data is present in iCloud, the app requests its removal and verifies the result; cloud deletion can remain pending and be retried if iCloud is unavailable. Preferences and subscription data are retained. Uninstalling or reinstalling the app does not itself delete study data already stored in iCloud.
5. Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for the content you create or import and for keeping any exported copies secure. Use Kioku lawfully. Do not interfere with the app or its services, attempt unauthorized access, or use the app in a way that violates another person's rights or applicable law.
6. License and Intellectual Property
Subject to these Terms and Apple's applicable terms, SODISOL grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Kioku on Apple devices you own or control. Kioku's software, design, and branding belong to SODISOL or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer ownership of that intellectual property. You retain rights in the content you create.
7. Third-Party Services
Kioku is distributed through the Apple App Store and may use Apple services including CloudKit, WatchConnectivity, and notifications. RevenueCat supports subscription entitlement management. Those services are subject to their own terms and policies. The Kioku Privacy Policy explains how they are used in connection with the app.
8. Availability and Liability
We work to keep Kioku useful and available, but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Kioku is provided as available, and SODISOL is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the app. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability or consumer rights that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
9. Ending Use and Changes
You may stop using Kioku at any time. Cancel any subscription separately through Apple to prevent future renewal. We may suspend or end access where reasonably necessary to address a serious breach or comply with law. We may revise these Terms; the date above shows when they were last updated. Continued use after an update means the updated Terms apply to future use, subject to any rights required by law.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey, subject to mandatory consumer protections and any other mandatory laws that apply where you live. Nothing in this section prevents you from using rights or courts available under those mandatory laws.
